To overcome the issues and practical limitations associated with the stripper foil used of H- charge exchange injection, we aim to establish a foil-less H- charge exchange injection by using only lasers. For that purpose, we are about to start a POP (proof-of-principle) demonstration of 400 MeV H- stripping to proton at J-PARC RCS. The YAG laser system will be used for stripping two electrons in the H- beam, while a deep UV laser will also be used for exciting the deeply bound 2nd electron before stripping by the YAG laser. The YAG laser system and also a new type of multi-reflection cavity system has been developed through multiple experimental studies of 3 MeV H- beam neutralization at J-PARC RFQ-TF. We have also demonstrated non-destructive H- beam diagnostics at 3 MeV, which can be easily implemented at J-PARC linac for beam diagnostics at full intensity as well as online beam monitoring and feedback during user operation. The R&D of the deep UV laser of 213 nm producing from the YAG laser by the higher harmonic technique is also in progress. The laser system setup at J-PARC linac is good progress to start the POP study for 400 MeV H- beam at the end of this year.
